Operation Bagration Action

Flames of War: Operation Bagration Tank Battle

The NUTS group played another big table Eastern Front game recently, with two German and one Romanian forces facing off against three Soviet forces.

Bart and Dave ran the Soviets, and they had a formidable array of heavy armor, both IS-2s and heavy assault guns, backed up with lots of T-34/85s.

WW3 Team Yankee: Scouts Out Mission

Garry, Shawn and I got together for another game of WW3 Team Yankee, and we decided to try the new mission "Scouts Out". We used 240 points per side, on a four by twelve foot table set with typical West German terrain.

Garry tried an interesting Soviet force, with two units of T-80s supporting a large T-55 formation and a large BTR Mech formation. This gave him a nice combination of mass and power. Shawn ran a US heavy armored force, with small units of M1A1HCs, while I ran a Dutch Mech formation, with Leopards in support.

NUTS Beqaa Valley Campaign

WW3 Team Yankee: Lebannon 1982

The NUTS group's latest campaign action featured yet more fighting in the Beqaa Valley of Lebannon. An Israeli Reserve Armor force faced off with a large Syrian Armor force along the Yanta - Rashayaa highway.

The Israeli force was optimized for tank killing, with extra TOW missile units added, but their armor included reserve Sho't tanks, more vulnerable to the Syrian armor.

Flames of War: Normandy Armor Clash

The NUTS group's latest WW2 action returned to the western front, with a large Normandy game featuring three 105 point British forces facing off with 315 points of German Heer and Fallschirmjager on a 4 foor by 32 foot table.

My Fallschirmjager force had a formation of StuGs, with a large FJ platoon and 2 PaK43 ATGs in support (I expected a lot of British armor). I faced off with a Desert Rat force, supported by Achilles and Priest SPGs. Bart's armor had difficulty with the close terrain, and the StuGs managed to survive long enough to break his main formation.

WW3 European Theater

WW3 Team Yankee: European Front Action

The NUTS group's latest WW3 action returned to Europe, featuring British and American forces facing off with 315 points of Soviets on a 4 foor by 32 foot table.

My US Force had a formation of Airborne infantry with Sheridans, plus a Bradley Mech formation with 4 M1A1 HCs. I faced Bart's tough T-80 Shock formation, but I had an Overpass to defend and the Overpass is Bart's kryptonite...

Armistice Day Game

Flames of War Great War: The Big Push

Aaron got his group together on Armistice Day to start some Great War on the table. We played on an 8x4 table, 2 players per side, and each side had 300 points.

This time the Allies were on the defence. Mark's Canadians held the left flank while Aaron's Metropolitan French held the right. Todd and Jon's Germans formed along the front, using their infantry to keep the defenders busy while massing their armor against the left flank, hoping to overwhelm them.

Bolt Action: Rumble in the Rubble Tournament!

Shawn Bagley organized a real extravaganza of a tournament for Bolt Action this past weekend, which he called Rumble in the Rubble.

We had a total of 22 players turn up, playing 3 games on 11 tables, each based on an urban area that saw heavy fighting during World War Two.

Black Powder Napoleonics

Black Powder: Napoleonic Action

The GHS group started a new theme recently, planning a series of Napoleonic battles using the Black Powder rules from Warlord Games. We use the excellent supplement special rules from Clash of Eagles, as these give a very Napoleonic flavor to our battles.

The action saw two wings of the French Army pushing against a Russo-Prussian one. The defenders had decent positions, but were heavily outnumbered, especially in cavalry on their left.

WW3 Team Yankee: NUTS September Action

The NUTS group had it's regular monthly WW3 Team Yankee game recently.

In a change from running large points of super tanks, we went with 105 point forces. This makes a number of other forces viable, as the super tanks are thin on the ground at 105 points.

Beqaa 1982 Campaign

Beqaa Valley Campaign: Action Near Beaufort Castle

The NUTS group's latest campaign, set in the Beqaa Valley of Lebanon in 1982, had its second game recently.

Bart commanded the PLO and Syrian forces, with a formation of PLO fighters, supported by a formation of Syrian T-55s and another formation of Syrian T-62s.
