Cobra Campaign - Battles for Percy and Roncey
Our Operation Cobra campaign for Flames of War continues, and we recently fought out two heavy US attacks at Percy and Roncey
in Normandy.
At Percy the 5th Fallschirmjager Division faced off against the US 2nd Armored Division, and the US forces pushed foward very
aggressively. The mission, Killing Ground, was a newer one and quite interesting tactically. Although not jump trained, I
expected my FJs to hold tough, but they were not having a good day and Dave's US armor sliced through them like a hot knife
through butter. We ended up with a 7-2 win for the US, and the heavily fatigued 5th FJ fell back to Villedieux les Poelles.
At Roncey the so far unengaged Panzer Lehr faced off with the heavily reinforced US 35th Infantry Division. The mission was Outflanked,
and this put the panzers on their heels. The game was very close, but in the end the US secured a draw and the panzers fell back.
