Formigny, 1450


To celebrate the re-opening of the store for gaming purposes Chris ran a refight of one of the decisive battles of the Hundred Years War, the clash at Formigny in 1450.

This was Shawn’s first try at “Days of Knights” but he still managed to recreate a decisive, if desperately close-run French win just as the light was fading.











The knights of the French left ponder how to carry the ditch.

Tiring of the steady stream of cannon balls from the new-fangled French artillery, the English advance across the ditch to try and bring the guns into bow range.

Breton knights under Arther de Clermont, riding to the sound of the guns appear in the English rear and head for a ford across the stream.




The English line has turned through almost ninety degrees but four hundred French knights manage to crash into it just as Clermont's reinforcements bear down on the weary enemy's flank.
